We are well placed for sightseeing being within a half hour drive of Durham Cathedral and Castle, the Bowes Museum, Raby Castle, Beamish Open Air Museum and the pleasant and historic market towns of Barnard Castle and Corbridge. Alston, the highest market town in England, is just beyond Wearhead. The lively centres of Newcastle and Gateshead are 45 minutes away and day trips to Hadrian’s Wall, Alnwick Castle and Holy Island are easy.
