We grow arable crops and rear livestock. Our potatoes are sold in the Farm Shop and to other local shops.
The distinctive yellow flowers of oilseed rape, which can be seen in April and May, grow into an oily black seed crushed for vegetable oil. Wheat is sold off farm for biscuit flour and livestock feed. Barley and beans are also sold off farm for livestock feed, and some barley is kept to feed the 120 cattle we rear. We also keep a small flock of rare breed Wensleydale sheep.
We love looking after the landscape and have an ongoing programme of hedgelaying and planting to improve wildlife habitats as well as preserving existing trees, dry-stone walls and ancient archaeological earthworks.
